Miracles Prisoner MinistryA Spiritual Recovery Program For Prisoners

As a Faith based organization, our ministry is founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, a 12-Step program based on Alcoholics Anonymous and A Course In Miracles. The Miracles Prisoner Ministry provides inmates, families, communities, institutions and their staff with written literature, audio/visual tapes and CDs, as well as on-site individualized self-help training programs.

Our spiritual recovery program relates to any addictive behavior; including spousal abuse, child abuse, drug and alcohol addiction, gambling and any thought system that is "out of control" and causing destruction or pain.

PROGRAM AIMS:
- To aid in the change of an inmate's mind from one of fostering hate and fear to one that demonstrates forgiveness, peace, self-determination and cooperation.

- To provide practical tools for inmates to undergo a transformation, so that s/he sees any term of incarceration can be changed from one of futility, despair, hatred and anger to an opportunity for positive and miraculous inner self-change.

- To help inmates develop the mental and emotional skills necessary to address addiction and stop the cycle of imprisonments.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
A commitment of the inmate to a sober and clean life including abstinence from drugs within the prison.

WHAT WE DO:
Our program is offered to inmates, families, communities, institutions & their staff through multi-media materials, correspondence courses and on-site individualized self-help training programs. The Miracles Prisoner Ministry has recently released their new Spiritual Recovery Correspondence Course, which is available to any inmate wishing to make a commitment to his or her recovery. Based on the 12-Step Program and A Course In Miracles, this course requires the inmate to study and read selected books and answer questions. Each student is given a sponsor/guide to support them throughout the length of the program. The Ministry hopes to assist in reducing the rate of recidivism throughout the USA. The program has been transcribed into Spanish, and begun in German, Dutch and Polish. We supply inmates with Bibles, the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, Hazelden's 24-Hour Book, dictionaries, walkmans and other materials. We also participate in an "Inmate Birthday" program sending birthday and prayer cards. The Miracles Prisoner Ministry also actively participates in related conferences, events and is a proud member of the International Network of Prison Ministries. For more details on our program, activities and prisoner testimonials, please visit the Miracles Prisoner Ministry website. MPM is also active in professional organizations (ACA, WCA, ACCA) related to corrections and attends conferences and events involving their work.

The Miracles Prisoner Ministry is currently operated by an all-volunteer workforce. We do not charge for our programs and materials and rely entirely on donations from philanthropy of the general public. Without your support we could not fulfill our mission.
