The peace of enlightened mind is discovered in a need to see differently and through our individual urgent desire for freedom from conflict. The acceptance of our personal responsibility for what we see empowers our commitment to view our neighbor in a new light of shared forgiveness. This action of the relinquishment of the past, or observed perception, has profound healing consequences, both physical and psychological, that extend far past the individual into the community and affect the world in which we live.

A mind in conflict cannot, in truth, communicate in any regard. A conflicted mind does not question the paradigm upon which it bases its reality.

The world you see is what you gave it, nothing more than that. But though it is no more than that, it is not less. herefore, to you it is important. It is the witness to your state of mind, the outside picture of an inward condition. As a man thinketh, so does he perceive. Therefore, seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world. Perception is a result and not a cause. Everything looked upon with vision is healed and holy. Nothing perceived without it means anything. And where there is no meaning, there is chaos.

A training is necessary because “an untrained mind can accomplish nothing”. The first 50 lessons of A Course In Miracles are designed to undo the limitations through which we perceive and to acquire “true perception” which is not bound by limits of any kind.

The thought system taught in A Course In Miracles is not based on the retention of conceptual content, but on its release. It is not based on what one is thinking but on the action of how one is thinking.
