This is a truly historic moment for the world. As grief, fear and anger grip the nation and indeed the world, the devastation we experience leads us to question if there can ever be a solution to our addiction to conflict, pain, suffering and death. Every solution to date has either led to more problems or merely a change in the appearance of any problem. A Course In Miracles does not seek to change the form of the problem, but to change, through acts of love and forgiveness, the mind that thought the problem real.

Depression is an inevitable consequence of separation from Wholeness or God. So are anxiety, worry, a deep sense of helplessness, misery, suffering and intense fear of loss. The separated ones have invented many "cures" for what they believe to be "the ills of the world." But the one thing they do not do is to question the reality of the problem. Yet its effects cannot be cured because the problem is not real.

Have you ever really questioned the underlying assumption of your own reality? What you believe to be "the ills of the world"? The one thing you do not do is to see there is no reality except the meaning you personally gave to anything. Stop one moment and realize that you have no “proof” of any existence here except the perception and interpretation of your own mind. Every conclusion you have ever drawn, every observation you ever made, every person you ever met, every word you’ve ever read, every sensation you’ve ever experienced, every interpretation, all “facts”, are only your idea of them. Nothing has reality outside of you.

Your idea of yourself and of the world is literally based on a false reference. As Jesus says in the Course, “Your cues for inference are wrong.” Problems that have no meaning cannot be resolved within the framework they are set. Two selves in conflict could not be resolved, and good and evil have no meeting place. The self you made can never be your Self, nor can your Self be split in two and still be what It is and must forever be. A mind and body cannot both exist. Make no attempt to reconcile the two, for one denies the other can be real. If you are physical, your mind is gone from your self-concept, for it has no place in which it could be really part of you. If you are spirit, then the body must be meaningless to your reality.

The purpose of the mind-training of A Course In Miracles is to activate in you the experience of a True reference - your One Self - and to stimulate your recognition of it. The Course sets up a revelatory moment in which both the experience and the whole context of understanding is given. This “Holy Instant” or “miracle” occurs through an action of mind where an apparent condition of opposing forces or conflicting ideas is resolved within an experience of all-inclusive peace.

The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite.

In this paradox lies the intimacy of true communication, the healing essence of love, the creativity of the mind, the converting nature of unifying thought and the recognition of the Oneness of Creation. It is this experience of the singularity of peace for which humanity yearns. It extends beyond all religious boundaries and yet is derived from an action of stillness that enlightened teachers have always taught.

Deep within you is everything that is perfect, ready to radiate through you and out into the world. It will cure all sorrow and pain and fear and loss because it will heal the mind that thought these things were real, and suffered out of its allegiance to them. You can never be deprived of your perfect holiness because its Source goes with you wherever you go. You can never suffer because the Source of all joy goes with you wherever you go. You can never be alone because the Source of all life goes with you wherever you go. Nothing can destroy your peace of mind because God goes with you wherever you go.

So we take this journey together. We had lost our way for a moment but now we’re back on track and Jesus is with us. We came from Heaven together and we are going home to Heaven together in the self-same certainty of the perfect eternal life that we are.
